About ARTworm

This concept began when I was thinking of a way to utilize the skills I gained from teaching English online and the foundation art techniques from The Art Institute of Philadelphia. Artworm's ultimate goal is to make reading and comprehension enjoyable. Having a child feel confident about what they have read and practiced is the projected outcome. Of course this process may not be something that will be used as the child grows in their own individual abilities. This process is to help them visualize what they have read and increase their mental recall on important points.

How it works

The Process

Artworm is a source for parents to improve their child's reading in a creative way. Some children experience frustration when it comes to reading due to lack of interest, difficulty focusing as well as various other issues that may hinder progress. Understanding that reading and comprehension can at times be difficult, Artworm's objective is to help children not only comprehend, but also retain what they have read by first practicing reading at a pace that works best for them. Then, once the reading is completed, a question and answer review is conducted using art. The process involves asking various questions such as 'Who is the main character? Where does the story take place?' How did the main character feel at the end of the story?' Keeping questions simple will lessen the frustration that sometimes occurs when a child doesn't understand or remember.

Additional help will be provided from the tutor as needed. At Artworm, we believe that an individual's reading comprehension should not be limited to a single way of learning. Artworm aims to add depth and creativity to build upon the natural abilities already instilled within each child and use them to strengthen other areas of focus.

Cost
ARTworm_price.jpg

Artworm's financial goal is to keep a low cost overhead so the main focus can be on learning. Cost for in-home lessons will vary due to number of children and distance. Material costs for in home lessons will include books and material for art. In order to keep cost down for in-home lessons, the materials are shared between each enrolled student. When materials run low they will be replenished in bulk, not per student. If a student would like to keep certain materials for themselves, arrangements can be made to obtain items for their personal use.
